Community Advisory Committee (CAC)

The Fullerton Joint Union High School District invites parents, guardians, educators, and community members to participate in the North Orange County SELPA Community Advisory Committee (CAC).

The CAC serves as an advisory group dedicated to supporting families and enhancing the quality of special education programs and services across local school districts.

Purpose of the CAC

The primary goals of the Community Advisory Committee are to:

• Promote Communication: Bridge connection and collaboration between parents, schools, and public community agencies.
• Provide Parent Education: Host workshops, informational presentations, and discussions on key special education topics (e.g., transition planning, IEP navigation, and alternative diploma pathways).
• Increase Community Awareness: Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities to foster inclusive school communities.
• Support Families: Connect parents and guardians with regional resources, peer guidance, and professional networks.

Who Can Join?

The CAC is open to all interested individuals in the North Orange County SELPA community, including:

• Parents and guardians of students with special needs (representing the majority of committee membership)
• Special and general education teachers and district staff
• Community agency representatives
• Interested community partners and youth advocates

Get Involved & Stay Connected

All CAC meetings and parent education presentations are open to the public.

• Attend Presentations: Topics range from post-secondary transition to navigating state eligibility changes. Recorded sessions and presentation slides are made available for families who cannot attend live.
